West Hill Community Centre Bridlington is a charitable organisation which helps West Hill residents and the surrounding community. We aim to reduce poverty and its effects by providing pathways to work, advance education, tackle debt, crime and the effects of social and geographical isolation. We meet these aims through services such as an art therapy group, job club, NHS stop-smoking drop in, youth club, Police Community Support Officer surgeries and Credit Union.
Cec Lindley is the Centre Manager and winner of the Pride of Bridlington Outstanding Contribution to the Community Award 2009. In 2008 she was recognised through the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Chairman's Award for enhancing the social wellbeing of the East Riding of Yorkshire. She represents West Hill on the Community Forum, Learning and Skills Forum, Neighbourhood Action Team and chairs the Community Action Group.
Becky Cockerill, the Centre Administrator and Youth Worker runs the popular Youth Club which takes place every Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm until 7pm. It is an exciting oppurtunity for children from six years of age to come along and enjoy various activities whilst socializing with people of their own age group. She is also a panel member for the East Ridings Youth Offending Team.
Our final member of staff is Ben Matthews, an apprentice Office Junior and occasional youth club DJ.
The Centre also holds charitable events throughout the year. One of our most popular is the Charity Auction which goes down phenominally well.
